How To

How do you plan your first Cruise vacation?

Planning a cruise is just like any other trip. You need to take into account many factors such as budgeting, where to go and activities. You should be aware that there are important differences in the planning of your first cruise, especially if this is your first time. Cruises last longer than traditional land vacations (up 3 weeks), so don't forget to pack! These are some tips that will make your vacation even more enjoyable.

  1. Book at least six months prior to departure. You can save money and avoid crowds by booking early. You'll also have ample time to research the ship, its itinerary, ports, and other activities. You might even find a discount on your airfare!
  2. You can choose a destination. There are many reasons people love to cruise to different destinations. While some people enjoy exploring new cities, others prefer to relax onboard. Whatever floats your boat, just remember to keep in mind the type of destination you'd like to visit. A Caribbean island is a favorite choice. Alaska and Europe are close behind.
  3. Consider booking a suite - If money isn't an issue, book a suite. Suites provide extra space and a private balcony as well as additional amenities. These rooms are generally available for $100-$300 per evening, depending on how big your room is and if there are any suites available during your sailing date.
  4. You should always check the weather forecast. Cruising is often associated in warm tropical climates. Check the weather forecasts for days that you will be visiting ports. The ocean is unpredictable, especially in places like Alaska or Antarctica, so it's best to know how bad the weather could potentially be before booking your cruise.
  5. Limit your packing to 10 items for your cruise. It's not necessary to pack too many clothes or shoes into your suitcase. Make sure to only bring what you really need. It is a good idea to bring layers of clothing because you might not be able access the laundry facilities at your destination.
  6. Do your homework - Before you buy tickets, read reviews online. Make sure you understand the pricing policies, what services they provide, and whether their cancellation policy makes sense for you.
  7. These must-see places are worth a visit. Each has its unique charm and culture, so take advantage of all the local sites.
